Knowledge & Learning

The AOHC member organizations are made up of interprofessional teams working in collaborative practice. In these teams, salaried professionals work together in a coordinated approach to keep people healthy and address the health and wellbeing needs of people served and their families, neighbourhoods and communities. All of our knowledge and learning is grounded in the values and principles of the Model of Health and Wellbeing.

Depending on the actual programs and services offered, interprofessional teams may include physicians, registered nurses, nurse practitioners, dietitians, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, social workers, Aboriginal traditional healers, health promoters, community development and outreach workers chiropodists, counsellors, managers and administrative staff.

The AOHC facilitates professional development events, peer gatherings, workshops and webinars for knowledge sharing and strengthening evidence-based practices in highest quality people and community-centred health and wellbeing. Through practical hands-on learning, our expert facilitators ensure that participants gain knowledge and useful approaches that can be transferred to the day-to-day work environment.
