1 Part-Time (10 Month Purchase of Service Agreement)

The Centre is currently seeking a Part-Time (contract) Project Coordinator to join our team. The Project Coordinator will oversee the development, implementation and evaluation of the 'Rexdale Seniors 'On-board the Discovery Bus' project.
The project will target 40 marginalized, socially isolated ethno-racial seniors living in the Rexdale community and take them on a journey of discovery- connecting them to each other and the broader community. Culminating in the development of a best practices ‘Welcome Wagon’ resource for reducing social isolation in ethno racial communities, the project will equip participants with the tools and resources to become a part of the social fabric of their communities by providing hands - on learning opportunities about their local community, their adopted city, province and country through an exploration of Canadian and local history, neighbourhoods, transportation and civic systems, arts and cultural.

The successful candidate will work closely with the Seniors Program Manager, Seniors Program Team, volunteer community members, partner agencies and organizations to deliver this exciting project.

Deliverables:

  • Develop pre-post evaluation tools in collaboration with Program Manager. 
  • Conduct outreach and host community information sessions to identify and register participants. 
  • Conduct consultation sessions with participants to inform the curriculum and program schedule 
  • Identify 10 senior volunteers and the appropriate community partners as Steering Committee members.
  • Meet with steering committee monthly to collaboratively design and develop the program to include a variety of guest speakers, site visits, trips etc.
  • Work collaboratively with a multi- media expert to support participants in the tracking and recording of their experiences. 
  • Develop and design an informal 'Welcome Wagon' resource. 
  • Plan and host a 'wrap-up' event which provides an interactive forum for participants to share their experiences with the broader community.
  • Complete evaluations and final funding report 
  • Supervise project staff.

Qualifications and Assets:

  • Undergraduate degree in a health promotion, project / event management or other relevant discipline; 
  • Demonstrated experience in Project / Event Planning
  • Demonstrated experience with evaluation methodologies (creating surveys, running focus groups etc.)
  • Demonstrated experience implementing planning models, designing templates and developing tracking tools
  • Excellent communication skills in both written and verbal
  • Able to work independently and with a team
  • Excellent organizational, multi-tasking and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment under minimal supervision
  • Willing to work occasional evenings and weekends
  • Must be able to provide a vulnerable sector criminal record check clearance
  • Knowledge of the Rexdale community is an asset

Salary Range: $29.46 per hour
Hours per week: 6 hours per week (flexible as per needs of the project): shall not exceed 200 hours for the duration of the 10 month purchase of service agreement.
Starting date: June 2018
Status: Non-unionized position
